Managed Retreat Conference: Abstracts Due
In June of 2021, Columbia University's Earth Institute will bring together stakeholders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors, along with with academics, scientists, and community representatives, to help develop a common understanding of the complex issue of managed retreat in coastal communities, and move the needle toward equitable solutions.

A major emphasis of the virtual conference will be on issues of environmental justice, in recognition that the people most impacted by decisions around retreat have a key role in these conversations.
The Earth Institute is encouraging abstract submissions from a wide variety of stakeholders – including but not limited to government reps, nonprofits, industry, artists, community organizations, and individual households who have experienced retreat. The due date for abstracts is January 15th, 2021.
This is an issue that SCAN has been participating in for over a year, and Dr. Richard Moss is on the organizing committee of this conference. We encourage SCAN members to click on the links above to learn more and consider submitting an abstract!
